How These Recordings Are Made
Real Bowls. Real Places.
Every sound in Sym Bowls was recorded by hand using actual singing bowls — not samples, not synthesizers, and not AI-generated audio.
Environmental sounds such as forest ambience and gentle rain were captured in real locations alongside the bowls, so what you hear is an honest moment in time.
Creating the Soundscape
I don't just strike a bowl, I create a soundscape with various means of playing a single bowl or a set of bowls. As a 200-hour trained yoga teacher with training in sound integration therapy, I approach each session with that same care and intention.
No AI
Sym Bowls does not use artificial intelligence to create, enhance, or imitate these tones. The resonance, sustain, and subtle imperfections you hear come from physical instruments and natural surroundings.
Why Every Bowl Is Unique
Singing bowls are traditionally crafted from bell metal bronze, an alloy long valued for bells and gongs because of its warm, resonant sustain.
No two handmade bowls are truly alike. Even bowls of similar size, note, and pitch develop their own voice through the metal's shape, thickness, and the subtle irregularities left by hand hammering.
When a bowl rings, closely matched tones can pulse together — a beat frequency. These gentle rhythms often fall in the range associated with deep relaxation and meditation. Many practitioners believe these gentle pulses help quiet the mind and encourage profound relaxation, supporting the body's natural capacity for self-healing.
Sound Therapy
Many people find that listening to specific frequencies — measured in hertz — supports focus, grounding, or deep rest. Sym Bowls lets you explore those tones at your own pace, whether for a few mindful minutes or a longer session.
How to Listen
Headphones or a good set of speakers are strongly recommended. Your iPhone's built-in speaker can play these recordings, but it cannot reproduce the full depth, warmth, and subtle detail that make them worth hearing. Even a basic pair of wired earbuds — like Apple's EarPods — will work just fine.
Find a comfortable position, let the sound fill the space, and don't force anything to happen. There is no right or wrong way to listen — only your experience in the moment. Allow thoughts, emotions, and sensations to come and go naturally.
All bowl audio fades out so you can tap the loop button and let it play indefinitely.
